Overview

Pi Fai Khao Man Gai is a humble yet lively roadside restaurant nestled in the bustling area of Jalan Cerdas 1, Taman Connaught, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. Specializing in authentic Thai cuisine, this spot draws a steady crowd eager to indulge in its well-loved dishes, making it a local favorite despite its modest setting.

The standout here is their spicy pork rice, which allows diners to tailor the heat level to their liking—an impressive touch that caters well to varied palates. The pork skewers are another highlight, boasting a caramelized, sweet exterior that gives way to tender, juicy meat inside. For those seeking something comforting, the fried chicken chop rice paired with a perfectly cooked lava egg adds depth with its fragrant oil-infused rice. Even the pad kra pao impresses with its balance of sweetness and spice, although the meat tends towards a milder, child-friendly flavor when requested.

Beverage offerings like Thai milk tea and green tea might fall short in intensity, as some guests have noted a lack of richness. Still, the overall culinary experience tends to eclipse these minor shortcomings. The location by the roadside adds to its charm but also brings some challenges in terms of cleanliness and space organization. Customers have mentioned occasional delays during peak hours and a bit of crowd mismanagement, yet the quality of the food often justifies the wait and the informal ambience.

Ideal for casual diners who appreciate genuine Thai flavors without the fuss of formal dining, Pi Fai Khao Man Gai welcomes families and food enthusiasts alike. Its approachable menu and customizable spice levels make it accessible to a broad audience, from spicy food lovers to those seeking milder tastes. The bustling roadside setting captures the essence of street-food culture in Kuala Lumpur, delivering an honest and memorable Thai dining experience.

Situated by the roadside, it started with a queue on a Sunday evening. Took around 20 ish minutes to finally get a table. It was pretty busy as it took over half an hour for our food to finally arrive and the neighbouring table was muttering about slow food. However, in my opinion, the food was worth the wait! We ordered the pork skewers, pad kra pao and the fried chicken chop rice. The pork skewers were excellent, sweet outer layer and juicy and tender inside. The pad kra pao allows you to adjust the spiciness level which is pretty nice. Unfortunately I got the non spicy one so I can share with my child. The mince meat is also a little on the sweet side. The fried chicken chop rice with egg was nice as well, the lava egg adding a nice taste and texture to the already fragrant oil rice. Will go back in the future to try out the rest of the menu.
